Upcycling - session 1

Greetings fellow Scientists!

As the school year comes to an end, we are taking a bit more relaxed approach to Science. We decided to take on a new project. Have you heard of upcycling? It's also know as a creative reuse. It is a relatively new approach towards creating new products of higher value by using materials that have been discarded. The idea for our project came from the Fun Crafts Kids website.

RSC Global Experiment 2015 - second investigation

Greetings fellow Scientists!

Today we were trying to find out How quickly can hydrogels absorb water? For this experiment, we used the following equipment:

Firstly, we gathered a capful of hydrogel from the pampers nappies and transferred it into a plastic bottle:

Then, we added water and measured the time taken to absorb it. We recorded our results and, after careful analysis, will post them on the RSC website.

Partner school visit - 21-27/05/15

Greetings fellow Scientists!

For the last 7 days, The Smarties Science Club members have been hosting a group of students and teachers from our partner school from Poland.

Our guests started the visit with the tour of the school and were really impressed with our facilities. Together we also conducted a number of experiments.

London sightseeing was the main part of the visit. Together we toured Wembley Stadium and visited Tower of London.

Thank you for the visit, we hope you had a good time :)
